Ever since Ray LaMontagne revealed last fall that after three albums with producer/multi-instrumentalist Ethan Johns, he was planning to man the boards himself for his next full-length effort, we’ve been patiently awaiting an album announcement. Until today, that is: On August 17th, LaMontagne and his longtime backing band, now-called the Pariah Dogs, will release his self-produced 4th LP, God Willin’ & The Creek Don’t Rise.
The 10-track album is said to have a “live feel” as it was recorded in just 2 weeks at LaMontagne’s new Western Massachusetts home studio. In conjunction with the late-summer release of God Willin’, LaMontagne and the Pariah Dogs (Jay Bellarose, Jennifer Condos, Patrick Warren, Eric Heywood, Greg Leisz) will embark on a 17-night tour across the U.S. (+ Toronto, ON).
As a fan of all three of his RCA-released albums, I can’t wait to hear what my favorite soulful (and shy!) singer has whipped up with one less cook in the kitchen.
