Yesterday, a Sonic Youth blog post revealed that Kim Gordon’s fashion line, “Mirror/Dash,” will be available exclusively at Urban Outfitters next Monday (Feb. 16), and today Billboard reports that Liz Phair is among 5 musicians appearing in an upcoming Banana Republic ad campaign.
“We’re actually trying to do something a little less trend oriented, a little more classic, that might appeal to someone say who used to shop at Urban [Outfitters] but wants something slightly less young looking,” Kim Gordon told The New York Times in a Q&A about her clothing line. You can view one of her designs, The Hardy Jacket ($415), in the photo above or click here.
The Banana Republic campaign will feature Liz Phair, Sara Bareilles and Dashboard Confessional in print ads, billboards, and window displays. Also, customers will get a free compilation of the artists’ music in the form of an iTunes gift card. Banana Republic’s Peter DeLuca told Billboard the campaign targets customers who “aspire to a city lifestyle. We’re really trying to establish the brand’s vision of the city as an anchor point. Music is a key piece of the puzzle.”
