Alas, we won’t be getting the new Walkmen album this summer, as GQ reported earlier in the year, but we are only three months away from hearing it. As Pitchfork reports, both the Walkmen and Interpol are set to release their next full-length albums this year on September 14, via Fat Possum and Matador, respectively. Whereas Interpol’s fourth LP will be self-titled, the Walkmen already went that route with their debut EP back in 2001, so their fifth record of original material is dubbed Lisbon. (P4k says they wrote a few cuts while visiting said Portuguese capital city.)
Lisbon was produced by (former Okkervil River/Smog/Mountain Goats collaborator) John Congleton, while You & Me co-producer Chris Zane engineered the record at various sessions in New York City and Philadelphia.
