Jessica Lea Mayfield‘s Dan Auerbach-produced debut, With Blasphemy So Heartfelt, is easily one of my favorite singer-songwriter (or any genre, really) albums of the past two years. At only 20 years old, Mayfield connects heartfelt yet poetic lyrics to timeless melodies and unforgettable hooks with an easy confidence that’s unparalleled among her generation. (Dare I call her the new Neil Young?) Anyway, clearly I’m a fan, so it was a pleasure to find out today that her next LP is in the can, a fun fact Mayfield revealed prior to this live performance of her new song “I’ll Be the One That You Want Someday” at a show in Asheville, NC this week.
