As the release date for star-studded tribute album Rave On Buddy Holly approaches, a handful of tracks have hit the web from the well-curated project. So far, we’ve heard Modest Mouse take on “That’ll Be the Day” and Florence & the Machine reconstruct “Not Fade Away,” in addition to four more cuts now streaming in the set’s official teaser widget. Last month, Fiona Apple and producer/songwriter Jon Brion’s version of Holly’s 1957 classic “Everyday” arrived via Seattle radio station 107.7 The End‘s “What’s Next” program. You can stream their take — a faithful, hushed cover that recalls the live version they’ve performed a few times (just added to our Fiona Apple covers compilation) — at the 50-second mark here.
Meanwhile, you can also hear Paul McCartney cover “It’s So Easy,” My Morning Jacket do “True Love Ways,” Julian Casablancas’ “Rave On,” and the Black Keys’ “Dearest” below. *Update: NJ Underground posted a stream of “Everyday,” as well:
