After warning us recently that his new album, ORION, would be released in just two weeks, Ryan Adams dropped his once-called “most legit metal record” tonight. Though Adams backtracked on the “metal” label last Monday, insisting ORION is actually “fast country with screaming and crap,” tonight’s announcement once again invokes the word, describing his first LP since 2008’s Cardinology as a “sci-fi metal concept album.”
Copies are “extremely limited,” so true fans better head thataway quick to pick up the 180 gram clear vinyl, Voivod drummer Michel Langevin’s artwork, a poster, and download card for the MP3 version. Performers on the record are Adams, Easy Tiger producer Jamie Candiloro, and imaginary bass player Dale Nixon.
