Ever since first hearing the Low Anthem perform their song “Apothecary” (which I’ve since learned is a new song) at NYC’s Grand Central this winter, we’ve been impatiently waiting for their follow-up to Oh My God, Charlie Darwin. A live experience and details about the Mike Mogis-produced effort being recorded in an abandoned pasta factory only made matters worse. Well, no release date or teaser single has hit our ears just yet, but here’s a gorgeous session Ben Knox Miller, Jeff Prystowski, Jocie Adams, and Mat Davidson played for MOKB‘s LaundroMatinee to help us (and hopefully you) bide our time.
For all three cuts, “Don’t Let Nobody Turn You Around,” “This God Damn House,” and “To The Ghosts Who Write History Books,” the Rhode Island based quartet showed off their multi-instrumental prowess by switching up their respective tools of the trade. Check out the latter song below, which features drums, pump organ, harmonica, harmonium, and Adams playing some sort of bow-stroked percussion instrument below (via gbabuts):
