Well, this is a great way to start the week… Founding Pink Floyd member and one of our personal favorite songwriters of all time announced this morning that he will be performing his masterpiece, The Wall, on a massive 35-date tour of North America this fall and winter. The tour, which Roger Waters promises will be a Floyd-worthy production, will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the album’s release (sorta: the album will actually be about 31 years old at tour time, but who’s counting?).
“[I]t has occurred to me that maybe the story of my fear and loss,” Waters told Spinner, “with it’s concomitant inevitable residue of ridicule, shame and punishment, provides an allegory for broader concerns: Nationalism, racism, sexism, religion, whatever! All these issues and ‘isms are driven by the same fears that drove my young life.” This. Hype like that usually irks me a bit, but it truly is stunning how relevant The Wall has remained over the past 3 decades. Also: fuck yeah Roger Waters.
