Former Hole bassist, Smashing Pumpkins collaborator, and current MAdM leader Melissa Auf der Maur just made throngs of Danzig fans very jealous, as Noisecreep reports that the living rock legend that is Glenn Danzig agreed to sing with her on the song “Father’s Grave,” from her forthcoming album, Out Of Our Mind (due out on March 23).
“I wish I had a flag to wave this, or could wave this on my forehead every day, but this is the first and only duet of Glenn Danzig’s entire career,” Auf der Maur declared. “I’m the only woman — or man — who has been graced with his presence on their record.”
Don’t worry, we’ll wave that flag for you! As it turns out, Auf der Maur spent years fantasizing about collaborating with the Misfits founder (haven’t we all?), and didn’t expect to get a response to her request for Danzig to record the vocal part to a fictional gravedigger on her new song. But then the phone rang: “Melissa, it’s Danzig. I really liked your song.” And the rest is history.
