Last year’s Cy Coleman cover and last month’s “Love and Haiti, Too” benefit concert aside, it’s been all quiet on the Fiona Apple front for way too long, but finally word spread today that Apple and longtime producer/collaborator Jon Brion haven’t only been teaming up for a few live performances of late—the pair have also recorded a cover song for upcoming benefit album Chickens In Love.
As Rawkblog reports (via Rolling Stone), Chickens In Love consists of original songs recorded by Los Angeles-based artists with lyrics written by kids between ages 6-18 at nonprofit creative writing organization 826LA. And though Apple and Brion’s return to the studio is perhaps the most noteworthy part of this story, check out the impressive lineup of other artists to contribute to this charity compilation:
She & Him, Cold War Kids, Tim and Eric, The Submarines, Summer Darling, The Happy Hollows, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Dum Dum Girls, The Growlers, Crystal Antlers, and The Pity Party.
