Some artists are so insanely creative and prolific it’s nearly impossible to keep up with all of their announced, unearthed, or rumored projects. French director/writer/genius Michel Gondry is one of them. Sure, we already mentioned his newest music video earlier in the week, but that’s only the beginning of what Gondry’s been up to of late.
For starters, he’s still working on an animated film with his son, premiering a documentary about his Aunt Suzette at SXSW, and editing his upcoming Seth Rogan/Christoph Waltz-starring film, The Green Hornet. You’d think that would fill up a 168-hour week, but then there’s this bit from a recent interview with EW:
Gondry is also planning a separate top-secret project with frequent collaborator Björk. (“It’s very undefined, so it’s hard to give more precision.”)
The obvious answer to the above title is that the pair are planning to add more music videos to their collaborative oeuvre, but, as the Playlist points out, Björk was nearly cast as the lead in Gondry’s feature film The Science of Sleep (ultimately played by Charlotte Gainsbourg). So perhaps they’re planning something bigger than a music video (a film? a venture capital endeavor?), but alas, we’ll have to wait and see.
“People think I would rest,” Gondry told EW of the many projects on his plate, “but instead of that, my brain is racing through all the ideas I have, and I want them to come out.” Yes, we all want them to come out too, sir.
