If you weren’t already aware that Neil Young is still one of the hardest-working musicians around, then his MusiCares Person of the Year acceptance speech should bring you up to speed. Check out this excerpt (via YouTube, via Speakers in Code):
I really don’t know what to say. I’m honored so much. I forgot how many songs I’ve written and I saw so many of them, [but] I just want you to know I’m working on a new album. I’ve already written 4 or 5 songs and I don’t want to stop. And I hope to be able to continue for a really long time.
Though I do hope his next studio album will be a little less Fork in the Road and a little more Prairie Wind, it’s great to hear Young bolster my long-held belief that music legends and artists are never able to truly retire. And as for that overdue Grammy win? He don’t need no stinkin’ Grammys.
