Third Man Records’ spoken word/instructional “Green Series” only consists of two 7” vinyl releases so far (Conan O’Brien’s “And You They Call Me Mad?” and BP Fallon’s “I Believe In Elvis Presley”), but that will change very soon with the addition of two of Jack White’s most unusual recordings yet…
The first release announced on TMR’s site this week is an interview and pair of hypothetical auctions by North Carolina auctioneer Jerry King. “[D]epending on where the listener drops the needle [on the flipside],” a description reads, “they will be greeted by either an automobile auction or a tobacco/chocolate cake auction.”
Next up is Amy Walker, an actress and singer best known for a YouTube video in which she replicates 21 accents from around the globe. The A-side of her 7” consists of an improvisational internal dialogue, showcasing the same skill that made her Internet-famous, as well as Walker’s reading of a newspaper article with each sentence in a different accent. The B-side is an interview with White. Both 45s will hit iTunes, TMR’s Nashville shop, and indie record stores, on February 22.
All this talk about spoken word recordings has me itching to get back to the jams, though, so let’s enjoy a brand new, pro-shot video of Wanda Jackson performing “Riot in Cell Block #9” with White and the Third Man House Band below:
