Now that’s an exciting headline, no? Fact is, those names are only a sampling of the all-star team set to take the Alliance Theater stage in Atlanta, GA next fall for the opening of horror fiction master Stephen King and rocker John Mellencamp’s long-awaited musical, Ghost Brothers of Darkland County.
The Fire Wire reports that the musical, which will feature a soundtrack produced by T Bone Burnett (more on that later), stars Kris Kristofferson, Elvis Costello (channeling Satan), Rosanne Cash, Dave Alvin, Sheryl Crow, Joe Frazier (yes, the famous boxer), Stephen King, and Neko freakin’ Case. Wow. (I knew there was a reason Case and Mellencamp were jamming with T Bone at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival last year.)
After the script has been completed, the soundtrack is in the can, and that epic cast hits the stage, a 3-disc album and book will be released as well.
Meanwhile, Burnett is doing some press these days to promote his Golden Globe-nominated (and soon to be Oscar-nominated) work on Crazy Heart. Check out this recent interview, which was what sparked the hunt that brought us this awesome story.
