Next week, Wye Oak will set out on tour with the Decemberists ahead of the Baltimore duo’s forthcoming LP, Civilian, due out March 8 via Merge. While the excellent title track — one of ten tunes the band describes as “about aloneness (the positive kind), loneliness (the horrible kind), moving on, and letting go (of people, places, and things)” — arrived as a free MP3 late last year, unplugged acoustic takes are often my favorite way to be introduced to new jams. Behold: Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack on a balcony in Amsterdam performing “Civilian” and another new album cut, “Hot as Day.”
