“Ryan Adams just joined the line up for [the] 826la.org benefit,” tweeted Judd Apatow earlier this week, revealing that our once retired pal has taken a break from the studio for a return to the stage tonight in Los Angeles alongside the likes of Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham, comedians Garry Shandling, Aziz Ansari, and more. It was unclear at the time whether Adams would be performing music (or poetry perhaps?) for the charity event (tickets are $250-500, sadly), but we now have confirmation that jams will ensue, via Facebook:
Playing tomorrow for the first time in over a year and a half at a charity gig tomorrow. Got a few pals together and we sound pretty good. Can’t wait. Lindsay Buckingham & Randy Newman are also playing. How rad would it be if those two did a tune together. Fingers crossed.
As CoS points out, Adams hasn’t performed music on stage since way back in March of 2009. Needless to say, here’s hoping this leads to more live dates, not to mention the unveiling of fresh tunes. Our fingers are crossed, too, Ryan.
**Update: Here’s the setlist and a rehearsal vid from last night:
