Sharon Van Etten’s follow-up to 2010’s Epic — her highly anticipated first release via her new label, Jagjaguwar Records — now has a release date (February 7), title, tracklist, and epic group of indie collaborators. As it turns out, the 12-track LP, Tramp, was not only recorded with the National’s Aaron Dessner, but also features guest spots by the likes of Zach Condon, Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak, Matt Barrick of the Walkmen, Doveman, and Julianna Barwick. Today’s press release notes:
The shimmering sound of Tramp both defies and illuminates the unsteadiness of a life in flux. Throughout the 14 months of scattered recording sessions, Van Etten was without a home — crashing with friends and storing her possessions between varied locations.
If you’ve been following our Van Etten praise over the past year, album cut “All I Can” might sound familiar, as she’s been road-testing the climactic, Jeff Buckley-esque heartbreaker since SXSW this spring.
