Though Wilco were originally set to begin work on their follow-up to last year’s Wilco (The Album) back in January, Jeff Tweedy was busy helming the boards for Mavis Staples’ excellent new album and those plans were stalled… until now. In an interview with Pop & Hiss, multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone revealed that the band will commence sessions for their eighth LP at the end of October.
“When I get back toward the end of [the] month, we’re getting back together to start working, to start the first writing sessions for the record,” said Sansone, who has a new book of photography, 100 Polaroids, and fourth album from his side project with John Stirratt, the Autumn Defense, on the way. “We’ve done a little bit of brainstorming, but the real work is going to begin at the end of [the] month.”
Speaking of Stirratt, the Wilco bassist mused earlier this year that LP8 might be “a lot more jarring” than its eponymous predecessor. I can’t wait.
