Lissie’s Catching a Tiger was an impressive debut LP, but it was her inspired performances of deconstructed, alt-country versions of “Pursuit of Happiness,” “Bad Romance,” and “Nothing Else Matters” that truly stopped me in my tracks last year. Now those viral live clips will get the studio treatment, as Lissie, aka Elisabeth Maurus, will release Covered Up With Flowers, a 5-track EP, via Fat Possum on November 8th. In addition to the aforementioned Kid Cudi, Lady Gaga, and Metallica tunes, Maurus put Joe South’s “Games People Play” and (noted cover song master) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds’ “The Ship Song” to tape for the forthcoming release.
