Eminem should start his own pr firm called Piss Off People Publicity (POPP). First, his music video from Relapse got Bill O’Reilly’s attention and supposedly deepened the rift between Em and Amy Winehouse. But that was before the album leaked last Friday. Now that the public’s gotten a chance to hear all the disses he’s been working on for the past four years, we’ve got a fresh crop of controversies to fuel this week’s pre-orders.
The first one, a Heath Ledger diss, is a little weak and probably won’t hold traction. NY Mag’s Mark Graham reports that Eminem takes a shot at the recently deceased Oscar-winning actor in his song “My Mom.” Here are the rhymes in question: “All right, Ma, you win / I don’t feel like arguin’ / I’ll do it, pop it, gobble it, and start bobblin’ / Stumble, hobble, tumble, slipped, fell in bed / with a bottle of meds / and a Heath Ledger bobblehead.”
Then there’s the big story from this weekend: Nick Cannon posted possibly the most analytical rap beef announcement ever on his blog, calling out Eminem for being sexist, racist, and worst of all, for being a “Slim Lamey.” Em started the feud by trashing Cannon’s wife, Mariah Carey, on the song “Bagpipes From Baghdad,” so Cannon is now gallantly returning to rap.
“I don’t know why no one has stood up to your bitch ass yet,” Cannon ranted in the now-deleted post. “But I guess it’s going to take a corny, wack rapping, boy toy from Nickelodeon to set you straight.”
Well, this should be fun, but it will probably just end with them hugging at the Grammys.
