Upon visiting Wilco’s Chicago studio earlier this year, Duluth indie band Low caught a glimpse at Jeff Tweedy’s next producing effort — a follow-up to the 2010 Mavis Staples record You Are Not Alone — that led to talk of an LP collaboration of their own. “What really converted us was hearing the new Mavis Staples tracks they were working on — big, simple, raw and intimate,” says Alan Sparhawk. “Plans were made then and there.”
