It’s always a pleasure when two of our favorite singer-songwriters team up for a duet, but something feels even more special for this pairing. For one, both Lisa Hannigan and Glen Hansard first caught our attention in groups and/or duos — the former singing with Damien Rice while the latter reached his widest audience alongside Markéta Irglová in the Swell Season. While both of their previous musical partners have gone solo of late (Rice recently performed new songs live in Los Angeles), Hansard and Hannigan are touring Europe together right now. Tuesday night in Paris, they unveiled a lovely rendition of the Oscar-winning Once song “Falling Slowly,” caught on tape in this audience-shot clip. Other onstage collaborations this month include a take on “Blue Moon,” this time with Hannigan taking the lead on ukulele for a take similar to the version we saw her bring the house down in Germany with back in August. Watch them perform this week’s stunning unplugged take on “Falling Slowly” above.
