Another excellent preview of Brendan Benson’s fifth LP, What Kind of World, arrived today in the form of the all-analog set’s title track. When “Bad For Me” dropped back in January, we had a very good feeling about this one, but now two cuts in and with this track’s chorus cemented alongside ’70s anthems worthy of a sequel to Dazed and Confused, we just might be hearing one of the best records of the year (near-certain this will take its place alongside the Raconteurs’ discography as a personal favorite Benson release to boot).
Digital copies of the album will arrive — appropriately, given its appeal among fellow analog enthusiasts — the same day as Record Store Day (and Benson’s 2-year-old son’s birthday) April 21, while physical copies go out a few days later on record-release Tuesday. Today you can pick up a pre-order in a number of bundles while streaming the latest taste here.
Also, if you haven’t heard “Bad For Me” yet, this remains an absolute must-listen for 2012.
