Jack White and his Nashville label, Third Man Records, just announced the latest album in their effort to reissue every White Stripes release. Elephant, Jack and Meg’s excellent 2003 LP, will arrive on 180-gram black vinyl in just two weeks (August 27). Mastered straight from tape recorded at Liam Watson’s all-analog Toe Rag Studios in London, the reissue features double-gatefold, printed inner sleeves along with an MP3 download card.
This record was released a decade ago this spring, but who’s counting: revisiting cuts like “Black Math,” the epic opening track “Seven Nation Army,” “Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine,” et al. right now, it feels as vital and present as ever. Even 180 grams of vinyl can’t contain a record this huge.
