Kings of Leon returned today with “Supersoaker,” the first single off their forthcoming 6th album, Mechanical Bull. Due out September 20th via RCA, the LP was produced by longtime collaborator Angelo Petraglia. If today’s taste is representative of the whole record, the Followills are sticking to a familiar formula this round: guitar-driven rock armed with plenty of arena-ready hooks and southern charm. Given that first two records have long been favorites among the KoL discography around here, it’s a welcome surprise to hear moments that recall the early days a bit, too.
