The new Soundgarden album, King Animal, is set for release on November 13th, preceded by the single/opening track “Been Away Too Long” later this month. Their Avengers comeback single, “Live to Rise,” arrived earlier in the year, but this will mark their first full-length studio set since 1996’s Down on the Upside.
King Animal was co-produced by go-to grunge studio man Adam Kaspar and mixed by Joe Barresi (who’s helmed the boards for Queens of the Stone, the Melvins, and many others of note). According to today’s announcement, all members of the quartet had a hand in songwriting the album, complete with bassist Ben Shepherd penning lyrics for “Attrition,” guitarist Kim Thayil providing words on “Non-State Actor,” and, of course, a number of Chris Cornell-led cuts.
Today also brought a brief preview of the album in the form of a 1:25 minute video clip featuring an audio tease from the set. So, without further ado, catch a glimpse at the sounds arriving this fall and preview the tracklist after the jump.
