Save for last fall’s impressive U2 cover and promising new tunes popping up in early live form, we’ve been hearing a lot more official music from Damien Rice’s former partner Lisa Hannigan than the man himself of late. Rice has kept very busy, though, staying on the live circuit and duetting with a number of artists in the meantime, such as last year’s collaborative LP with actress Mélanie Laurent. Now he’s lent his voice for another actress-songwriter’s single: “Sing,” the title track to Maria Doyle Kennedy’s new album feature Rice on guest vox and a timeless melody we’ve been humming around here ever since the song dropped late last week.
The set arrives in full later this month in Ireland, followed by the UK in September. Here’s hoping it hits the States soon, though, as this is one of the more uplifting singer-songwriter cuts to reach these ears in months. Check it out below:
