Trailer: 2 Days In New York

We were just discussing a third Before Sunrise / Sunset film arriving soon when, lo and behold, an update is here from a similar Julie Delpy-starring project. 2 Days In New York, the sequel to 2007’s charming 2 Days In Paris, now has an official trailer to promote its U.S. release this summer. For the next installment, Chris Rock takes on a similar role that Adam Goldberg played in the first film, as a boyfriend of Delpy’s Marion hilariously forced to reckon with her eccentric French family. As you’ll see in the preview below, Delpy’s own father, Albert, steals the show once again with regard to comedy, while Rock’s character is uncomfortably introduced to Marion’s ex-boyfriend — an issue Goldberg’s Jack also faced for the Paris chapter.

All told, it looks we’re getting more of the same quirk and charisma with a side of drama that made Delpy’s directorial debut an unexpected favorite. Add this pitch-perfect scene playing on the New York art world to the mix and it’s safe to say we’ll be lining up for the August 10 theatrical release. (There’s also an on-demand viewing option earlier on June 6.) So, without further ado, preview the next piece of cinema to tide us Before Sunrise fans over before that other sequel arrives:
