It’s hard to believe over a decade has passed since T Bone Burnett got this incredible group together for the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack — one of the best OST releases of all time. Thankfully, this is one project that has not gone under-appreciated over the years, as it’s earned millions of sales, countless awards, and an inestimable level of influence on the state of folk/Americana in its wake. What’s more, almost every artist included went on to receive greater success in their own careers, due in no small part to its critical and chart-topping success (as well as their own undeniable talents, of course).
Just like many soundtracks — particularly ones covering a wide range of artists and eras like this — many tracks were left on the cutting room floor. Now, appropriately in conjunction with the surge in folk-inspired festival headliners making the rounds of late, we have a chance to hear even more from those fateful sessions: The labels behind the original 19-track release have just put out a second disc, which features 14 more cuts by 24B favorites such as Van Dyke Parks, John Hartford, Norman Blake, and more. Celebrating the OST’s decade anniversary, all 33 tracks are available now as a bundled set.
So, without further ado, here are the track titles for the latest incarnation of this epic soundtrack to Joel and Ethan Coen’s film…
