Though rumors that Radiohead were set to perform on an upcoming David Bowie tribute record benefiting the War Child charity turned out to be fiction, we can now confirm the album’s official lineup and it’s quite exciting nonetheless.
In a post on Duran Duran’s official site, the band announced that they have recorded a cover of Bowie’s “Boys Keep Swinging” for label Manimal Vinyl’s tribute album due to “start leaking,” according to the announcement, in mid-February, alongside contributions by MGMT*, France’s First Lady Carla Bruni (“Absolute Beginners”), Keren Ann (“Life on Mars”), Devendra Banhart singing “Sound + Vision” in Spanish, A Place To Bury Strangers (“Suffragette City”), Swahili Blonde feat. John Frusciante (“Red Money”), and many more.
Whereas song choices by MGMT* and Soulwax are still listed as “tba,” the rest of the tracklist has been revealed. Check out the full tracklist here or below (we’re not sure of the final song order just yet):
*Update: After MGMT’s name was abruptly removed from the press release, we contacted Manimal Vinyl for the scoop. As it turns out, the band’s record label has yet to approve of them contributing to the Bowie album as of yet. There is a good chance this will all get sorted out, but they are not on the official tracklist just yet. 🙁
