Last month’s “Walk Like a Giant” preview faded out a bit too soon for those of us prepared to soak in a classic never-ending jam from Neil Young & Crazy Horse, but now comes “Ramada Inn” in all its 17-minute, sprawling glory. Guitarist Frank “Poncho” Sampedro has said Psychedelic Pill marks a deliberate return to form of sorts, and indeed both cuts do recall the years leading up to Broken Arrow — particularly Crazy Horse’s 1991 tour documented on Arc and Weld. Now with two unhinged rockers under our belt, it’ll be interesting to hear the record’s shortest cut, Harvest Moon-esque Dylan shout-out “Twisted Road,” in studio form. Till then (release day: October 30th), hear Neil and Co.’s ode to enduring love above.
