It’s finally happening: Peter Jackson has teased this documentary on The Beatles — a fly-on-the-wall, studio footage archive — for years, and now Disney Plus will wind down that long and winding road. On November 25, 26, and 27th, enjoy six hours of John, Paul, George, and Ringo in Get Back, unreleased film-shot scenes behind Let It Be and other sessions.
Per the trailer and previous peeks, Jackson has given this footage a modern makeover, with color treatment and other digital magic making this timeless band somehow seem even more timeless.
Ringo Starr discussed it recently on the Broken Record podcast with producer Rick Rubin, where he said that some of the Fab Four’s friction was in the early cut he screened. But, Starr admitted, the film caught their best parts on tape, too, flaws and all.
This 3-day event reminds me of The Beatles Anthology series that aired on TV when I was growing up, so cheers to a throwback to look forward to.
