A second taste of Angel Olsen’s new record just hit, this time with a through-line bridging her last record and those Coyne/Krause sets she played with Will Oldham in ’12. Where the the tremolo-fuzz guitars and early-’60s vocal meet here recall the Chi-lites by way of Helen Shapiro, both of whom Olsen mentioned as influences in 2011. Retro shouts notwithstanding, this is a welcome step forward for Olsen and singer-songwriter jams in general. Hear it above. Burn Your Fire for No Witness arrives, featuring production from John Congleton, on February 18th.
