Fiver is a new solo project from Toronto’s Simone Schmidt, in which the One Hundred Dollars frontwoman shares material cut loose from her band’s collaborative setting. As she puts it, this is “where I can play, produce and release songs in their best incarnation, regardless of genre, no matter who else plays on them.” Next month’s record-release show will feature support from Timber Timbre, and I can’t think of a better band to help shed light on the dark, restrained beauty of this record, Lost the Plot. Stream October’s most haunted cut so far, “Rage of Plastics,” above.
