Back in July, Mark Kozelek shared “I Can’t Live Without My Mother’s Love,” a beautifully personal tune arriving on the heels of the previous month’s homage to his father. The song, Kozelek said at the time, “will find a home on an album someday… the album will be filled with stories of my upbringing in Ohio, and will include this very special song about my mom.” Now we have official word on that record, as Caldo Verde announced a new Sun Kil Moon LP today: Benji, in which Kozelek sings about his childhood to the present, arrives on February 4th next year. It features guest turns from Steve Shelley, Jen Wood, Owen Ashworth, and “Unlit Hallway” duet partner Will Oldham. Hear Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy harmonize and echo Kozelek’s “sisters” with his own personal reference to “brothers” on the new track above.
