The A-sides (“Smother” and “Human,” not to mention, tangentially, their “Get Lucky” cover) are a fine entry point to Daughter’s debut LP, but few emerging acts can claim a B-side worthy of introductions, as well. Given the exclusion of “Smoke,” we find the record long-awaited but far from top-loaded, as Elena, Igor, and Remi prove they can build a cryptically sparse opening into epic yet nuanced proportions at the drop of a hat. The UK trio shared the cut this week in light of it backing their 7″ single for “Youth.” Hear it above.
