Caitlin Rose came through on the promise of last fall’s “No One To Call” back in February with a sophomore set among the best alt-country outings of the year. Now that the Nashville songwriter has brought The Stand-In to a broader audience — including, notably, a crowd at the legendary Ryman Auditorium last month supporting Jason Isbell — she’s set to wrap a big 2013 with fall tour dates and one more single from the record. It’s the B-side to “Waitin'” that caught our ears this week, though: Rose’s understated take on the National’s Trouble Will Find Me cut “Pink Rabbits,” faithful enough to the original’s world-weary repose, yet polished up a bit with bittersweet southern charm.
