This week brings a welcome reminder for one of this year’s best debut records, as Night Beds — the Winston Yellen-led Colorado Springs project — unveiled a new video for Country Sleep standout “Ramona.” Written in a colonial home outside Nashville that was once owned by Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, this tune’s tale of unrequited love and courtship suggests those walls recall the moment Johnny brazenly told June upon first meeting, “You and I are going to get married someday.” The Abraham Vilchez-Moran-directed clip tells a different, rather heart-wrenching story, yet it, too, turns out redemptive in the end.
