It’s been a few years since Muscle Shoals duo the Secret Sisters arrived towing T Bone Burnett and Jack White-produced cuts before few outside the inner circle had even heard a note. Harmonies on that covers-heavy debut and Third Man single earned every bit of hype, though, and now a follow-up LP is imminent, this time featuring mostly originals. “Let There Be Lonely” takes a big step toward proving Lydia and Laura Rogers as nuanced songwriters with a keen ear for classic melodies. Working again with Burnett, the darker sonic palette suits the material well, too. Catch a glimpse at Put Your Needle Down above.
