Johnny Flynn unveiled a first taste of his forthcoming LP in July via “The Lady Is Risen,” but this one takes an even bigger step forward from his 2010 set, Been Listening. Hear “After Eliot” above, in which Flynn invokes lyrical images from T. S. Eliot, backup vocals from late-’60s Leonard Cohen, and dog-eared melodies of Bert Jansch with a healthy dose of his own charm throughout. Country Mile arrives on September 30th via Transgressive Records.
