On August 20th, Bill Callahan will release a first taste of his new LP, Dream River, in the form of dub versions for album closer “Winter Road” and its second track, “Javelin Unlanding.” Rather than simple remixes of previously-arranged pieces, both sides of the 12″ single were conceived in part while arranging songs during recording sessions, NY Times reports. The result, per today’s stream of “Expanding Dub” (dub-style “Javelin Unlanding”), builds from the rhythmic textures Apocalypse electric guitarist Matt Kinsey has been improvising with a delay pedal live on Callahan tours for a few years, this time applied to the whole band.
