As Scout Niblett prepares a tour in support of her new record, It’s Up To Emma, here’s a recent live clip to preview the raw energy one might expect at the shows. Filmed on the roof of Germany’s Museum Ludwig with the foreboding facade of Cologne’s 13th-century cathedral in the backdrop, Niblett picks out awkward silences on her guitar before cutting them in half with the full-throated first line of “Nevada.” Complete with a menacing grin after each of the tune’s dynamic spires, it’s hard to imagine a better post-rock soundtrack to Gothic architecture from that moment on. Check it out above.
