We heard a promising new cut from Mat Cothran’s Elvis Depressedly project earlier this month along with news of a full-length by his indie-pop outfit Coma Cinema due out this summer. Before the former LP, Holo Pleasures, drops tomorrow via Birdtapes, today brings another taste off the set, as well as the new single “Satan Made A Mansion” from Coma Cinema’s Posthumous Release LP. Among the three, “Pepsi/Coke Suicide” has made the most indelible mark so far, but they’re all steeped in understated charm — thanks in part to the medium-fi recording approach. Each offer a memorable refrain, as well, with hooks repeated sparingly enough to let the post-ennui vibe sink in upon further spins.
