Camera Obscura return with our first taste of Desire Lines, the Glasgow band’s 5th LP. As singer Tracyanne Campbell revealed in the album announcement, producer Tucker Martine helmed the boards this round, enlisting cameo vocals from Jim James and Neko Case on a few tracks. Hearing them as charming as ever on “Do It Again” this morning, though, it seems they haven’t messed with the formula too much — a promising sign given that Camera Obscura have one of the most consistent decade-long runs of great indie-pop records behind them. “Of all our records this was pretty much the most challenging to write,” Campbell said. And yet, this uplifting cut makes it sound so easy. Hear them “Do It Again” above.
