First Aid Kit have been so consistent at turning in notable cover songs over the years that their knack for the genre has become near-unparalleled at this point — not to mention the artists they interpret are often bowled over, too. Last year, Klara and Johanna Söderberg’s take on “Dancing Barefoot” brought Patti Smith to tears, followed by Paul Simon honoring the Swedish duo with a standing ovation during his Polar Music Prize tribute. Now with that endorsement from half of Simon & Garfunkel at their back, First Aid Kit have another cut from their folk harmonizing forebears to share: “Kathy’s Song,” off 1966’s Sounds of Silence (and Simon’s ’65 solo debut), performed live this month for Cardinal Sessions while on tour in Düsseldorf, Germany.
