Back in March, we heard a cut from Ethan Johns’ new LP in the form of “Whip Poor Will,” an impressive first glimpse at solo work from one of our favorite multi-instrumentalists and record producers. Rather than produce the set himself, “whoever was in the room” helmed the sessions. (An important detail given that guests include talented pals like Ryan Adams, Laura Marling, Jeremy Stacey, Dominic Monks, Richard Causon, and others.) The result is If Not Now Then When?, a 10-track set mixed by Glyn Johns arriving as a first-edition gatefold 12″ in November and other formats in February.
In conjunction with the initial release, Johns is playing a string of fall record store dates in England preceded by a concert in a 19th century London church on October 29th. Today you can order the vinyl here and scan the tour itinerary here.
