Back in February, Willy Mason dropped a promising preview of his next album, the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2007’s If the Ocean Gets Rough, and then promptly hit the road without an update since. While that track, “Restless Fugitive,” finds Mason going electric with producer Dan Carey, it remains a worthy introduction to his past acoustic material regardless. Here’s a good meeting point for both approaches: “Pickup Truck,” Mason’s contribution to a compilation featuring artists from his hometown of Martha’s Vineyard, performed solo-electric with just a foot-tap rhythm section at an intimate house show.
