Michael Andrews — a composer best known for producing albums by other artists (Inara George, Metric, Gary Jules, Brendan Benson, etc.) and composing film scores (Me and You and Everyone We Know, Donnie Darko, etc.) — will release the follow-up to his solo debut LP, 2006’s Hand On String, next month with Spilling a Rainbow. This is the first single, in which Josh Hassin’s animated video does the cut’s youthful sense of wonder justice via 3,000 frames drawn by high school students. Everything fits together — from the retro, flipbook feel to the folk-pop tune’s trip through outerspace — quite beautifully. Check it out above.
