Earlier this week a friend sent in an excellent bootleg from the Pennsylvania stop along Conor Oberst’s ongoing tour, in which he unveiled new material among a career-spanning setlist featuring Bright Eyes and solo material. Given that the latest Bright Eyes LP, The People’s Key, took something of a kitchen-sink approach, it was a welcome change of pace to hear Oberst bring a packed room to silence once again, armed only with a guitar and light backing from the Felice Brothers on some tunes. Here’s a glimpse at last night’s gig in Fairfield, CT. With these two new ones — of unknown titles, though “Kick” seems legit — we find his ability to craft a cutting acoustic song in fine form. Check it out above.
