Writer/director Joss Whedon has proven himself a one-man cult hit TV series machine (Buffy, Firefly, et al.), viral web producer (Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog), and successful comic book film director (Avengers), but now he’s set to tackle a new arena: film scoring. Speaking at Comic-Con over the weekend, Whedon revealed that he penned the music for his next film, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. This is his first foray into scoring a feature, and it was “terrifying,” he said. “When I’m terrified, I know I’m having fun.” It isn’t Whedon’s first attempt at original music, however, as the aforementioned Neil Patrick Harris-starring online show featured both comedic compositions in the series and an unprecedented original score for the DVD commentary.
